The Midas Initiative programme was the catalyst for the formation of Midas MultiMedia. The programme had the vision to sponsor a Creative & Digital Media Cluster to promote Cross-Border Economic Development and Competitive Advantage for Small Medium Sized Companies in the East Border Region.
It aims were to develop and promote a cross-border cluster of Enterprises within creative & digital media that provides the potential for economic growth and competitive advantage in international markets for the East Border Region. The initiative focuses on those industries which emerge from the interaction between the arts and technology and in particular areas such as film making; television and video production; multi-media; computer games and animation and music/music technology. This was achieved through:
The creation of new cross-border business-to-business linkages among creative & digital media companies
The development of cross-border, joint marketing initiatives
Increasing levels of export-led growth for creative & digital media SMEs in the East Border Region
Increasing opportunities for cross-border technology transfer, innovation and new product development for participating SMEs, including applied R&D projects between businesses and third level Institutions.
The programme was a joint initiative of Dundalk Institute of Technology, University of Ulster and Dream Ireland Ltd Belfast and supported through the EU’s INTERREG IIIA Programme for Ireland / Northern Ireland and the International Fund for Ireland and private sector.
